Re: Re-Reintroducing Piano Diaries
The 2022 Edition
Back in 2009, I had a failed internet startup. Didn’t everybody?
Actually, it hadn’t failed yet, but in retrospect, it was doomed to do so for at least three reasons:
- A corrupt or at least mildly dishonest partner
- Too complex design (my fault)
- An idea that was too deep and big for the technology of the time (internet standards of the time’s fault)
Why do I mention this? Because the first iteration of Piano Diaries was on that platform, MusicOnlineAlive. The concept of Piano Diaries was simple: improvise something on a regular basis; write a few words about what I improvise, or just what I was thinking about.
Every few years, I come back to the project. Usually when I’m in the middle of a major project (as I am right now) and need a diversion from it.
You can listen to the complete and growing album on Bandcamp:
Ironically, as soon as it became clear to me that my internet startup wouldn’t make it, I put all of my recorded music on Bandcamp, which was our chief competitor. Oh, well.
(It’s also available on Soundcloud, but for some reason, I can’t embed the full album here. But you can find all of my public SC albums here.)
So here we go again and again and again.
